The above patient had a long standing history of ptosis, noted by the eyelid drooping and covering the pupils of the eye. Also, on the left hand photo the distance from the eyelashes to the eyelid fold is long and the eyelid fold looks very high. This indicates the muscle attachment to the eyelid tissue is improperly high and needs to be reattached lower, closer to the eyelash area. The photo on the right shows the effects after shortening and advancing the Levator Palpebrae Superioris towards the eyelashes. The eyelid level has been raised, allowing visualization of the pupils and the eyelid fold is now closer to the eyelash line indicating a proper attachment of the muscle to eyelid tissue.
