Micro needling treatments are gaining popularity as a “must have” skin rejuvenation treatment in aesthetic medicine. The reason it is becoming so popular is due to the fact that skin improves very rapidly even from a single treatment! Micro needling treatments are effective in improving the appearance of the following skin conditions:
- Sun Damage
- Fine Lines & Wrinkles
- Acne Scarring
- Enlarged Pores
- Rough Texture
We use the Dermapen 3™ micro needling pen which is the most advanced, medical-grade micro-needling device on the market. By using multiple needles to vertically pierce the skin, Dermapen 3™ allows for millions of fine channels to be created in the skin and the body responds in a natural way by launching processes to repair the physical damage. The result is an increased production of collagen and elastin, similar to fractional laser treatments but without downtime.
How many treatments are recommended?
Generally we recommend the following:
Rejuvenation: 4-6 treatments that are 4 weeks apart
Acne scarring: 6 treatments that are 6 weeks apart
How should I prepare for a Dermapen 3™ micro needling treatment?
For optimal results, we will outline an appropriate skin care regimen to strengthen your skin in order to ensure the best possible results. Your regimen will begin approximately 4 weeks prior to beginning your treatments.
Is the treatment painful?
For minimal needle depths, treatments are relatively painless. Deeper treatments require a topical anesthetic cream for approximately 15 minutes.
How long should it take before I see results?
Patients notice an immediate “glow” to their skin within a few days. Visible changes develop over the course of several weeks. The skin’s appearance continues to improve for up to 6 months as collagen production continues, especially when combined with the recommended skin rejuvenation products.
Is there any downtime after treatments?
Generally no, but you may experience facial redness for 12-48 hours after the treatment.
